Bill Caption
Relating to consideration under the public school accountability
system of performance on assessment instruments by certain students
formerly receiving special education services.
Fiscal Notes
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
HB 61 amends the Education Code to add to the fourth domain of indicators of achievement
under the public school accountability system for evaluating the performance of middle and
junior high school and elementary school campuses and public school districts that include those
campuses; the percentage of students formerly receiving special education services who achieved
satisfactory academic performance for those students, as determined by rule of the commissioner
of education, on statewide standardized tests administered in grades three through eight.
Vote Recommendation Notes
HB 61 amends some procedure that deals with school accountability by highlighting districts that have students that exit special education programs. This has no connection to our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
