Relating to a defendant’s right to appeal from a judgement or conviction in a municipal court of record.

Bill Analysis

This bill would modify the portion of the code related to a defendant’s right to appeal. This bill would clarify that if a county does not have a county court at law, then the county court would have jurisdiction of any appeal. 

Vote Recommendation Notes

Though we support the clarification that this bill provides, the content of this legislation does not have a measurable impact on our liberty principles. For this reason we will remain neutral.
