Bill Caption

Relating to funding adjustments for school districts that annex unacceptable school districts.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

This bill would allow additional funding for districts that annex schools with unacceptable ratings. This funding would be given out on top of any education funding given under chapters 41 and 42 of the Education code.

Vote Recommendation Notes

We expect that a school district that annexes a failing school will need some extra funding to bring the failing school up to acceptable standards. While there does not appear to be a connection to our liberty principles to justify our taking a position either way, this does seems to be a reasonable public policy and we have no objections.
