Bill Analysis
This bill would require that a person’s name be included in the Texas Peace Officers’ Memorial Monument if they were a peace officer killed in the line of duty. The bill also clarifies that it is assumed that a peace officer was killed in the line of duty if the Employees Retirement System of Texas has awarded benefits to the eligible survivors of the person as described by the chapter. The bill would also create the Texas Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony Council to plan, oversee, and facilitate annual ceremonies recognizing and honoring officers of the state killed in the line of duty.
Vote Recommendation Notes
This bill does not appear to have a connection to our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
