Relating to the School Health Survey.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 3606 would create the School Health Survey that would collect data on the amount of Physical Education classes a student will take on average at a school district; whether the district allows modifications or accommodations that allow physical education courses to meet the needs of students with disabilities; the average class size; and the ratio of students enrolled in physical education classes in the district compared to the overall enrollment; among other things related to Physical Education class information.

Vote Recommendation Notes

It seems likely that this report would lead to future legislation proposing new physical education related state mandates on local school districts which we would likely oppose. However, we do remain neutral on the reporting requirement itself as it does not affect our liberty principles.
