Bill Analysis

Under current law, each district court holds terms that commence on the first Mondays in January and July of each year.

HB 3481 would create an exception for Harris County, instead requiring district court terms in that county to commence on the first Mondays in February, May, August and November of each year. This would allow Harris County district courts to have four shorter terms rather than the two terms each year for other counties.

Vote Recommendation Notes

HB 3481 is an administrative bill which neither uplifts nor offends our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
