Under current law, children wanting to participate in athletics are not obligated to receive an electrocardiogram as part of their physical before engaging in athletic activity. This bill would require that this happens as a precursor to playing UIL sponsored sports.

required electrocardiogram or echo cardiogram. A school district could waive electrocardiogram
or echocardiogram requirements if a student's parent or a person standing in parental relation to
the student submits a written request for a waiver for any reason.
