Bill Caption

Relating to notice of health benefit plan provider network status provided by certain freestanding emergency medical care facilities.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

This bill would require a freestanding emergency medical care facility to post a notice (by listing participating providers on their internet website and providing a patient with written confirmation) of which health benefit plans the facility is a participating provider for, or that the facility is not a participating provider in any health benefit plan provider network.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill would violate our limited government and personal responsibility principles by placing a requirement on a facility to post a list of health benefit plans in which it is a participating provider or not. It is not the proper role of government to require a facility post such information, it is the responsibility of a client or patient to ask for such information. For this reason, we oppose this bill.
