Bill Analysis

This bill would re-create the Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force to coordinate implementation of the state’s plan for prevention, early screening, diagnosis, and management of chronic kidney disease and educate health care professionals on the use of clinical practice guidelines for detecting and treating chronic kidney disease.

Vote Recommendation Notes

It is not the proper role of state government to create and implement a statewide plan on prevention of kidney disease. It is the personal responsibility of individuals to know their own health and family history of disease when possible, and the responsibility of doctors to detect, diagnose, and treat kidney disease without interference or requirements of the state. It is likely that doctors can take better care of their patients without any interference from a bureaucratic body that does not have knowledge of specific patient needs. For these reasons, we oppose this bill.
