Bill Caption
Relating to the participation in the Texas Municipal Retirement System of certain employees of certain municipalities subject to the Texas Local Fire Fighters Retirement Act.
Fiscal Notes
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
This is a local bill to the University Park Fire Department in Dallas. HB 3056 would allow the governing body of the municipality to exclude certain employees of the fire department hired on or after the closure effective date from participation in the retirement system. If the governing body adopts such an ordinance for this, they must adopt an ordinance to allow those employees to instead participate in the Texas Municipal Retirement System. These ordinances will be voted on by the participating members of the retirement system.
Vote Recommendation Notes
HB 3056 does not appear to have a connection to our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
