Bill Analysis

HB 2832 addresses issues related to property owners who have delinquent taxes and make an agreement for a property tax lender to pay the delinquent taxes. This bill would require a property owner who executes a contract with a property tax lender to send to any applicable mortgage servicer a notice of intent to enter into a contract with the property tax lender authorizing the lender to pay the delinquent taxes on the property.

Vote Recommendation Notes

HB 2832 grows government by adding a new requirement on property owners for the convenience of mortgage servicers. While this notice may be convenient and helpful to a mortgage servicer, it is not the proper role of state government to make this mandate. For these reasons we oppose HB 2832.
