Bill Caption

Relating to establishing an Advisory Committee for the TexNet Monitoring Program.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

Under current law, the TexNet Seismic Monitoring Program exists to study seismic events in Texas. HB 2819 would establish the TexNet Advisory Committee within the University of Texas Bureau of Economic Geology. The committee would determine the scope of any use of state appropriations to the program, deliver a biennial report to key legislators, and ensure certain data transfers.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill supports the principle of limited government by increasing the accountability of the TexNet Seismic Monitoring Program through an advisory committee. For this reason, we support HB 2819.
