Bill Caption

Relating to the allocation of certain state hotel occupancy tax revenue.

Bill Analysis

HB 2690 would require the comptroller to redirect revenue received from the hotel occupancy tax in certain municipalities to the coastal erosion response account. The bill, would only pertain to hotels located in coastal counties on the Gulf of Mexico and Corpus Christi Bay.

Vote Recommendation Notes

While we oppose the hotel occupancy tax, this bill neither increases nor decreases the tax but rather helps ensure that more of the tax money collected in the coastal bend region remains useful in the area. For this reason we remain neutral on the bill.
