Bill Caption

Relating to a report by the Texas Workforce Commission regarding the transition from military service to employment.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 257 would direct the Texas Workforce Commission to release a report, no later than September 1st each year, to the governor, lieutenant governor, speaker of the house, and chairs of the appropriate legislative committees that identifies the five most common military occupational specialties of service members transitioning from military service to employment, five occupations those specialties previously listed best offer transferable skills, and any industry-based certifications that align with the previously listed specialties.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Directing the Texas Workforce Commission to produce the report outlined in this bill can likely be done within existing resources and does not tangibly increase the size, scope, or cost of government. There is no discernible connection to any liberty principle, therefore we remain neutral on HB 257.
