Bill Caption

Relating to restoration of the position of public employees when relieved of duty from the Texas military forces or a similar unit.

Fiscal Notes

From the LBB: no fiscal implication to the state is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

Under current law, a state employee who is a member of the Texas military forces, a reserve of the armed forces, or a member of a state or federally authorized urban search and rescue team and who is ordered to duty is entitled to be restored to the position of employment following relief from duty. HB 2486 would add employees of a municipality, county, or another political subdivision to the provision.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This is a procedural bill regarding state and local governments retaining military members after leaving for active duty and does not appear to have a connection to our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
