Fiscal Notes

From the LBB: Estimated Two-year Net Impact to General Revenue Related Funds for HB 2478, As Introduced: a negative impact of ($2,100,000) through the biennium ending August 31, 2019.

The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill.

Bill Analysis

This bill would create a grant program to award incentive payments to medical schools that administer training programs to increase the number of pediatric and adult psychiatrists in the state. The program would be subject to available funds.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This program would grow the size and scope of state government by creating a grant program to subsidize residency training programs. This is outside of the scope of the core responsibilities of state government. We oppose HB 2478.
