Bill Analysis

Under current law, the Texas Historical Commission is composed of nine members appointed by the governor and approved by the Senate. HB 2417 would change the composition of the commission to 15 members. In addition the members must include a professional archaeologist, a professional historian, and a professional architect who specializes in history. The remaining 12 members would be required to represent the general public.

Vote Recommendation Notes

HB 2417 neither uplifts nor offends our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
