Bill Analysis

HB 233 would add a section to the Government Code so that information is confidential relating to the name, address, telephone number e-mail address, driver’s license number, social security number, or other personal information regarding a person who obtains ownership or control of an animal making a humane disposition of the animal. A governmental body would be able to disclose information made confidential to a governmental entity or a person under contract with a governmental entity who provides animal control services, animal registration services, or related services.

Vote Recommendation Notes

HB 233 enhances our individual liberty and limited government principles by keeping the personal information of an individual making a humane disposition of an animal confidential. This would help to prevent those individuals from being harassed or victimized. We support HB 233.
