Bill Caption

Relating to the confidentiality of home address information of certain victims of family violence, sexual assault or abuse, stalking, or trafficking of persons.

Bill Analysis

Under current law, sensitive home address information of victims of certain crimes (family violence, sexual assault or abuse, stalking, or trafficking) is protected under law. HB 2222 would update some of the language in these codes as well as expand this protection in cases where an applicant for a protective order is not the victim, but rather their child or other household resident is the victim.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill supports limited government by updating a proper role of the state (law enforcement and protections) and further enabling victims of these crimes to live in freedom and peace. For this reason, we support HB 2222.
