Bill Caption
Relating to the eligibility and requirements for the issuance and renewal of a license in massage therapy.
Fiscal Notes
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
HB 2072 would require that an applicant for a new or renewed massage therapy license submit as a part of their application a complete and legible set of fingerprints for the purposes of obtaining criminal history record information from the DPS and the FBI.
Vote Recommendation Notes
Expanding criminal background check requirements for massage therapy license or license renewal applicants increases the scope of government by adding further unnecessary occupational licensure requirements as a precondition for working in one's chosen profession. For these reasons we oppose HB 2072.
