Bill Caption
Relating to the treatment of political contributions by a person's spouse under the Judicial Campaign Fairness Act.
Fiscal Notes
From the LBB: No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
This bill would get rid of the provision stating that a political contribution by one’s spouse is to be considered as a political contribution from the individual.
Vote Recommendation Notes
This bill furthers individual liberty and personal responsibility by treating political contributions by two separate people as contributions by two people instead of considering the contribution of a spouse as a contribution of the individual as well. After all, a person's political free speech should not be infringed upon merely as a consequence of being married to a candidate. For this reason we support this legislation.
