Bill Analysis

This bill would require animal shelters and releasing agencies to keep a record of intake and disposition of live animals at the facilities, categorized by many factors including species, age, reason why the animal is there, and regarding the disposition of the animal, if they were adopted, reclaimed, died, or were transferred to a different shelter/agency. The bill would also require that the shelter/agencies records of this be made available to the public.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill would put new regulations on both public and private entities. New, unnecessary regulation of private entities is in violation of our limited government principles. For this reason, we oppose this bill, but would remove our opposition if the regulation of private shelters was removed.
