Bill Analysis
This bill would have every student entering high school in the 2018-2019 school year take a civics test that mirrors the United States citizenship test. This bill would also eliminate the US History end of course assessment requirement, effectively replacing it with the Civics test. The Civics test must be taken electronically under the supervision of an administrator and the commissioner cannot limit the amount of tries a student has to pass the test.
Vote Recommendation Notes
Although this bill does not have an effect on our liberty principles, we are amicable to the idea of a Civics test being administered in public schools. It represents a chance for US government class assessments to be fact-based and less subjective than some public school curriculum tends to be on these issues.
