Bill Analysis
This is a local bill. HB 1709 would create procedures for dissolving the Bois D'Arc Island Levee Improvement District of Dallas and Kaufman Counties if certain requirements are met.
Vote Recommendation Notes
Texas Action supports this bill. HB 1709 upholds or principle of limited government by creating provisions to dissolve special districts that are no longer considered essential or which no longer perform the functions for which they were created. This makes local government more efficient, and is one less expenditure of taxpayer dollars.
