Bill Caption

Relating to the reporting of certain offenses committed by members of the Texas military forces.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

Under current law, after a member of Texas military forces is convicted or granted deferred adjudication on the basis of an offense the court clerk must provide written notice to the staff judge advocate at Joint Force Headquarters or the provost marshal of the military installation. HB 1655 would require the clerk to give notice to the staff judge advocate general.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This is a procedural bill that updates reporting requirements from court clerks and does not appear to have a connection to our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
