Bill Caption

Relating to creating a pilot program to provide summer internships for foster youth.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

This bill would require the department to create a pilot program to provide summer internships at a participating business, nonprofit, or governmental agency for foster youth and would also require the department to submit a report to the governor, lieutenant governor, and speaker of the house on the number of youths involved in the program and the location and type of internships provided under the program as well as details of recruitment efforts of eligible youth by the department.

Vote Recommendation Notes

A pilot program to arrange for internships with private organizations for the benefit of wards of the state is within the legitimate role of state government. This bill does not affect our liberty principles and we remain neutral.
