Bill Caption

Relating to the administration of the owner-builder loan program.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

Under current law, the total amount of loans made by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs and other entities to an owner-builder may not exceed $90,000. HB 1512 would increase this amount to $150,000.

Vote Recommendation Notes

We believe that government loans in and of themselves are not the appropriate function of government. For these reasons, we oppose HB 1512.
