Bill Caption
Relating to mediation of the settlement of certain out-of-network health benefit claims involving balance billing for members of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas.
Fiscal Notes
From the Legislative Budget Board: no significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
HB 1428 would amend the Insurance Code to add the Texas Public School Employees Group Benefits Program and Texas School Employees Uniform Group Health Coverage to the definitions of administrator and enrollee, which allows mandatory mediation of a settlement of claims involving billing for members of the Teacher Retirement System.
Vote Recommendation Notes
The practice being added to TRS by this bill is already the practice and policy of other state employee benefit systems, therefore we remain neutral.
