Bill Caption

Relating to prohibiting the operation of State Highway 255 as a toll project.

Fiscal Notes

Estimated Two-year Net Impact to General Revenue Related Funds for HB141, As Introduced: an impact of $0 through the biennium ending August 31, 2019.

The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill.

Bill Analysis

Under current law, the Department of Transportation may not operate a nontolled state highway as a toll project with a few exceptions. HB 141 would prohibit the department from operating any part of State Highway 255 in Webb County as a toll project.

Vote Recommendation Notes

While local in nature, this bill would protect the liberty of affected motorists by preventing the specified road from becoming tolled. For these reasons we support HB 141.
