Bill Caption

Relating to the value of a residential dwelling that may be offered or awarded as a prize at a charitable raffle.

Bill Analysis

Under current law, the cap on the value of a raffle of a residential dwelling is $250,000. If this bill passes, the cap would be increased to $2 million.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill increases the range of freedom for individuals involved in charitable raffles. HB 115 promotes our liberty principle of individual liberty and therefore we support it. There does not seem to be any good reason from a limited government perspective to have any cap at all on the value of this type of raffle. We would support an amendment to remove the cap altogether.
