Current law states that the Texas Transportation Commission must allocate funding for public transportation on a biennial basis to urban, urbanized, and rural areas under an predetermined formula program.
House Bill 1140 would amend current Transportation Code by striking the terms urban, urbanized, and rural and replacing them with large urbanized, small urbanized and nonurbanized. Furthermore, the bill would define large urbanized as an urbanized area with a population greater than 200,000 and small urbanized as an urbanized area with a population less than 200,000.
