No significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 1009 would amend the Government Code to prohibit an employee of a municipality from performing a duty classified as a wildland firefighting duty, including conducting a prescribed burn, except under certain conditions. 

Vote Recommendation Notes

We opposed this bill in the House. It has since been amended to alleviate our objection. We remain neutral on this bill as it appears in the Senate on second reading.
