The cost to the state for publication of the resolution is $118,681.
Bill Analysis
SJR 48 proposes a constitutional amendment which, if passed by the legislature and approved by the voters in an election to be held November 3, 2013, would authorize another $100 Million in bonding authority for road projects in and around colonias and to provide access between colonias and existing public roads.
Vote Recommendation Notes
The new $100 Million in bonding authority that would be authorized under this constitutional amendment would be in addition to the already authorized $175 Million in bonding authority for road projects related to colonias. This would constitute another expansion of government and further exacerbate the growing problem in Texas of bond related debt. We oppose this bill as a violation of limited government and encourage legislators to do the same.
