SJR 22, if passed, will place a proposed constitutional amendment on the November ballot for Texans to vote on. The proposed amendment states that the people of Texas have a constitutional right to hunt, fish, and harvest wildlife. The resolution also states that hunting and fishing are the preferred methods of managing wildlife and that this right to hunt and fish does not affect any provision of law related to trespass, property rights, or eminent domain.

First chamber analysis:
We support the ability of Texans to hunt and fish and
as such support the additional legal protection which a constitutional amendment would
provide. SJR 22 would strengthen personal liberty and is particularly well-phrased
given that the resolution notes that the right to hunt and fish will not affect
provisions of the law relating to private property. We support SJR 22
