Bill Analysis

SB 812 would amend Family Code to authorize a judge having jurisdiction of a suit under Title 5 (The Parent-Child Relationship), Title 1 (Marriage Relationship), Chapter 45 (Change of Name), or Title 4 (Protective Orders) to appoint a full-time or part-time associate judge to perform those duties authorized by law.  This bill would add in Chapter 45 (Change of Name) to the existing code.
