Bill Caption

Relating to the methods of delivery for required financial statement forms sent to certain municipal officeholders and candidates for municipal office.

Fiscal Notes

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

This legislation would allow for a clerk or secretary of a municipality to deliver the financial statement forms by e-mail or "any other means of electronic transfer". Currently, the law only allows for such a form to be delivered through traditional snail-mail.

Vote Recommendation Notes

We support this legislation for making it more efficient for those running for office to fulfill their personal responsibilities of filing a financial disclosure form. With more information for elections being sent and received electronically, this legislation would allow for a municipality to send and receive the financial forms required by candidates in multiple ways, other than just traditional mail and brings localities into the 21st Century.
