Relating to annual permits to move certain equipment; authorizing a fee.

Bill Analysis

SB 562 amends 623.071 to allow for an annual permit for vehicles to move certain equipment as long as it is not taller than 14 feet high, or longer than 110 feet. Currently, businesses that transport items such as telephone poles, as referenced in Senate Research Centers analysis, need to resubmit for a permit every 90 days. This legislation allows these entities to get a year-long permit at the cost of $960, which is the price of four, 90-day permits.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This makes the process for these companies to get a permit to transport larger materials a lot more simplified.  It is important to note that this does not eliminate any other permit types currently in place, it merely adds the option of a full-year permit at a cost of $960 for those that would rather pay for a full year up front.
