Bill Analysis

SB 169 was written with the intention of allowing active duty members, and certain dependents of the Armed Forces to be able to keep their place in line to receive the medical attention they need, while fulfilling their out-of-state deployment commitments. This legislation explicitly requires the Executive Commissioner of Health and Human Services Commission to maintain an active member's place on a waiting list or interest list while fulfilling their out-of-state commitments to the military.

These lists include:

The position of the military member will be held until after on year after the following takes place:

Vote Recommendation Notes

We remain neutral on this bill as it neither affirms nor abridges our liberty principles. However, it is important to not punish active duty members of our military by moving them further down a waiting list simply as a consequence of their active duty assignment.
