Bill Caption

Relating to the appointment of an associate commissioner for veterans services at the Health and Human Services Commission.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

The bill would amend the Government Code to require that the executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) appoint an associate commissioner for veterans services.  Currently, there is a veterans services commissioner, appointed by the HHSC Commissioner in 2013, this legislation would make the position statutory.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This legislation would codify in statute an already existing position at HHSC. We remain neutral on this legislation, as it neither promotes nor offends our liberty principles.
