Bill Analysis

On behalf of the 84th Legislature of the State of Texas, HCR 109 would “urge the United States Congress to direct the Department of Defense (DoD) to relocate the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) to Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base in Houston.”

The concurrent resolution says this should be done because it would save the Department of Defense a significant amount of money in reduced operational costs.

Additionally, it says that Houston would receive a significant economic boost by moving AFRICOM to Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base.

This bill is similar to SCR 37.
