Bill Analysis

This bill would allow a person who on June 7, 1995, held both a motor home manufacturer’s license and a motor home dealer’s license issued under this chapter to hold a motor home manufacturer’s license, a general distinguishing number, and not more than two franchised dealer’s licenses. They may operate as both a manufacturer and dealer of motor homes but of no other type of vehicle.

Sen. Nichols is the sponsor of this legislation.

Vote Recommendation Notes

HB 833 would allow manufacturers of motor homes to sell their motor homes without having to operate through a third party dealer. This bill would allow the free market to operate even under the current licensing requirements for manufacturers and dealers. While HB 833 doesn't increase the number of franchise dealers licenses from two, it would allow the market to operate more freely than it does today. We support HB 833.
