Bill Analysis

HB 725 would amend the Texas statutes to allow an accelerated disposition by the appellate court for juveniles. This bill would also repeal a provision within the Code of Criminal Procedure indicating provisions related to the “appeal of transfer from juvenile court”

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill would expedite the appeal process by repealing a provision that was created during the movement to be stricter on juvenile associated crimes. We support this bill for preserving our Texas constitutional right of a “speedy public trial”. This is aligned with our limited government principle.
