Bill Analysis

HB 3546 would amend the Education Code to authorize a school district's board of trustees to establish a minimum required score for each section of an examination to advance to the next grade in primary school or an examination for high school academic subject credit. The score would be required to be higher than existing minimum required scores for the examinations but no higher than a score in the 90th percentile for the respective examinations.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill affirms the principle of limited government by allowing school districts the discretion to require higher scores for tests in schools. We support HB 3546.
