Bill Analysis
HB 353 would allow a volunteer emergency services personnel to carry a licensed concealed handgun on property where they received notice that entry on the property was forbidden or they have been told to leave the property without immediately departing. This bill would allow volunteer emergency services personnel, while on duty, to enter premises serving or selling alcohol, schools, sporting events, correctional facilities, hospitals, amusement parks, meetings with governmental entities, and religious establishments with a licensed concealed handgun.
Vote Recommendation Notes
HB 353 would expand individual liberty by allowing volunteer emergency services personnel to continue to protect themselves while on duty. While we do believe strongly in private property rights, we realize that there are situations where a gun serves as a necessary tool of emergency workers. We therefore support HB 353.
