Bill Analysis

HB 3443 would require state agencies that sell or offer to sell information to adopt a written policy regarding their practices and have it posted to their website. Along with the statement, "Personal information collected by (name of agency) is for agency use and may also be sold to interested persons."

Vote Recommendation Notes

While the practice of state agencies selling information, especially public information, is a questionable practice in and of itself; this bill would provide some much needed transparency regarding these practices. We support this legislation.
