Bill Analysis

HB 3396 would amend Chapter 254 (Political Reporting) of the Election Code. This legislation would increase the direct campaign expenditures limit of $100 to $1,000.

Vote Recommendation Notes

The current low threshold of $100 for independent campaign expenditures seems burdensome, however it is unclear that the increase to $1000 for the reporting requirement to be triggered is necessarily the right amount either. Without further evidence supporting that specific figure we are neutral on this specific legislation but supportive of the concept generally.
