Bill Caption

Relating to lane restrictions for certain motor vehicles in highway construction or maintenance work zones.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

This legislation would amend the Transportation Code to authorize the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Executive Director or the Executive Director's designee enact a restricted commercial motor vehicle lane in construction traffic or maintenance work zone that is part of the state highway system.

Vote Recommendation Notes

We are neutral on this legislation. This bill would allow for TxDOT to designate a separate lane for commercial motor vehicles in a construction zone, with the intention of reducing the number of drivers passing these vehicles due to a slower speed limit of these motor vehicles.
