Bill Caption

Relating to the period of time allowed for appointment of a board of managers for a school district.

Bill Analysis

HB 3106 would Education Code to authorize the commissioner of education to extend the authority of the board of managers of an under performing school district for a period of up to two years, if the commissioner determines insufficient progress has been made.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill affirms the principle of limited government. It would give the commissioner more discretion over continuing the time of a board of managers who were elected to bring the school district up to acceptable performing standards. For this reason, we support HB 3106.
