Bill Analysis
House Bill 2968 would amend the Natural Resources Code to encourage the General Land Office to consult and coordinate with the City of San Antonio on the planning and development of improvements to the Alamo.
The bill would stipulate that, in addition to the advice, proposals, and recommendations it can already provide, the Alamo Preservation Advisory Board could also provide advice, proposals, and recommendations to promote the development of a world-class site to educate visitors on the history and importance of the Alamo in this state’s fight for independence and to honor the people who lost their lives at the Alamo, as well as recommendations to provide educational and museum facilities.
Vote Recommendation Notes
House Bill 2968 seeks to recognize the historical importance of the Alamo and to encourage the General Land Office and Alamo Preservation Advisory Board to look for ways to develop and promote the development of the Alamo as a world-class site.
Since the bill only contains provisions that encourage consultations and recommendations, it does not affect our Liberty Principles. We will remain neutral.
The second chamber sponsor is Senator José Menéndez.
