Bill Caption
Relating to the cancellation of a person's voter registration on notice that the person has acknowledged that the person is not a citizen.
Bill Analysis
This legislation would amend the Election Code instructing the voter registrar to immediately cancel a
voter's registration upon receipt of a list of individuals disqualified from jury service, because of citizenship status. The bill would require the voter registrar to send a notification to the
voter if a voter's registration is cancelled due to citizenship status.
Vote Recommendation Notes
We support this legislation under the personal responsibility principle. This bill would disqualify those who are unable to participate in jury duty summons, due to their immigration status, from being eligible to vote. It is the individual's responsibility to rectify their immigration status for eligibility for jury duty, in order to be eligible to have the right to vote as well. We strongly support this legislation.
